Malta’s Permanent Residency by Investment Program (MPRP) is Cheaper for Families!

The Malta Permanent Residence Programme has become more affordable, and the process has been streamlined, allowing investors to obtain temporary residency quickly.

According to the new government guidelines, a 4-member family needs to pay a 40% smaller amount to the government, and the fees for dependent adults have been decreased by 25%, from 10,000 euros to 7,500 euros. Moreover, applicants receive a temporary residency permit upon application, provided they pay the initial fee of 15,000 euros.

Moreover, the residents can receive instant rental income through immediate leasing rights, and applicants who rent their home can sublet it after 5 years.

To obtain a temporary residency permit is crucial for several families. Because they need to start schooling or the parents are working, etc, before the Maltese authorities issue the permanent residency permits.

Applicants must pay an initial fee of 15,000 euros through a licensed agent to become temporary residents

Discus Holdings Ltd is an official and licensed Maltese agent of the residency by investment and other related programs. Check our credentials and contact our experts to learn more about the details of becoming a resident of Malta.

Benefits of becoming a permanent resident in Malta

Once you become a permanent resident of Malta, this status is valid for life; you must only renew the ID card every five years.

As a holder of Maltese permanent residency, you can stay and travel visa-free in the 29 countries of the Schengen zone. You can also change your residency to any other EU Member State through a simplified process if you have a legitimate reason to live there.

There is no minimum stay requirement to maintain your permanent status.

The subletting right is a significant step in reducing costs. Permanent residents who rent their homes can sublet them after five years. It means that they can finance one part of their "investment," and they can live anywhere; meanwhile, the qualifying rental creates income for them. Of course, it is prohibited to sublet the property to another applicant of the MPRP.

The leasing option is also an essential improvement to the program. Applicants for the Greek or Cypriot Golden Visa Programs can also lease their qualifying real estate.
